Thinking about Color

Pantone, that arbiter of color, has declared Honeysuckle Pink to be the color of the year for 2011. You can see the color here.

They call it courageous, confident and vital. What do you think?

  1. Am I being cynical by thinking they're jumping on the breast-cancer-awareness marketing wagon? (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/pandora-young/the-pink-ribbon-marketing_b_760696.html#s154426&title=undefined)

    Eh. Probably.

  2. I had that same cynical thought. I struggle with pink (not for its identity with awareness, that's a good thing). I was frequently dressed in pink when I was a child, and I grew to loathe it. I've been reclaiming a relationship with it this past year.

  3. I don't ever remember being dressed in pink... maybe I'm blocking it. I did dress Julia in pink, but once she started talking (around 9 months!), that was the end of THAT. I'm trying a bit of pink here and there in my life now, though, just to push myself out of my comfort zone. I made a pair of heathered pink wrist warmers for an elderly friend who died a year later, and the family sent them back to me... I've actually become quite fond of them. Who knows? Maybe this old dog is learning a new trick...
