Here There Be Angels!

I am not into angels, per se, but I am fascinated by how much lore there is about them. These pages were for a skinny book on one of my international groups. The front page is layered paints and inks on canvas paper. Appropriately, I used Tattered Angels glimmer mists as the base, then rubbed on ink pads DTP and finally dry brushed some white acrylic paint over the pages. The central image is called "The Angel of Healing" and she's from Scottish Borders Stamping. I embossed her in a green moss interference powder that's very gold, actually. She looks much prettier in real life than this scan would indicate.

The back page is all done with Brilliance inks and features part of a poem from Jane Yolen, from the book "Here There Be Angels." The poem reads:

An angel at front door and back, One for art and one for fact: For story and for poetry. And one for song. Angels three.

Row Houses

Trish organized a swap of Row Houses on CC Swaps. It was themeless, which was great because it allowed me to use up all manner of bits and bobs. Here are the 26 row houses I created for this swap.

A day in the Jasmine Street garden & a collage

My lovely friends Carol & Henry hosted a big group of us for a garden party brunch last week when mutual dear friends visited from Pennsylvania.

Words can't really do justice to an afternoon at Carol and Henry's. Carol is a multi-talented wise woman who does beautiful mosaic pots and garden ornaments. Henry is a master gardener and herbalist who distills essential oils from herbs and flowers. Both are astounding resources and wonderful teachers.

Walking into their enclosed garden feels about 10 degrees cooler than out on the street, thanks to the massive old oaks that shade it in part. Picture a pink French cottage dropped onto half an acre of land, in a growing city under the hot California Central Valley sun. Surrounded on one side by roses and lavender, the land is also home to cedar, many fruit trees, honey bees, citrus, and innumerable herbs, vegetables and flowers.

We watched the kids get their heads wet under the garden pump, toured the garden and workshop, sat under a grape-laden arbor, caught up with a group of beloved friends, enjoyed a fabulous brunch and went home with many goodies I harvested.

Thank you friends, for a perfect afternoon. This collage (second picture) on its way to you as a small thanks.

These are for the Art Venturers. The first two photos are front and back for Adrienne's book; the second set is for Margaret's book.
