Pay it Forward is full up!

And Annie, Katje and Rena will all be getting gifts from me in the new year. Thanks for playing!

Rena said she loves the idea because she has received so much inspiration from her sister artists, and it feels good to give something back. I agree!

I'm busy with holiday prep and will post a few things I've made later this week.

Pay it Forward

I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this Pay It Forward exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be yet and you may not receive it tomorrow, or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise! The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog. So basically, if you comment and you’re on, I’ll send you something crafty that I’ll make!

Once you sign up, copy and paste the above paragraph on your blog, and three other lucky people will be recipients of your handmade work. I will check my blog daily to see who the first three sign ups are, and if they've joined this Pay It Forward exchange, they will be the recipients from me.

Make sure to leave your blog address with your message, so I can check your blog. I will also need your email address so I can contact you for details of where to send them.

All the freaky people

On Next Gen stampers, there was a challenge to make artwork using squares. I am rather behind but thought I'd post this here.

The quote: "All the freaky people make the beauty of the world" are lyrics from a favorite musician, Michael Franti. It's about it taking all kinds of people--squares and non squares--to make the world go round. The faces are from Zettiology.

The background was done using Tattered Angel Glimmer mists and a noodle brush.

A birthday box

I made this box for my husband Craig's birthday. It's a recycled pine candy box that I'd painted in warm reds and turquoise. On one side I painted "reaping & growing" and on the other, "living and growing." The twigs are from the massive Turkey Oak that grows in our front yard. The tags represent what Craig has sown and reaped, and they say things like "love," "family," "kids," "joy" "comfort" and "health."

The piece at the top is a sun made out of UTEE and alcohol inks (blended before melting, so as to flash off the alcohol), and made to look like the Green Man, whom Craig loves and models himself after. ;) The copper skeleton leaves became angel wings in the process, so he is a guardian angel of nature spirits. I finished the piece off with doodling using Sharpie paint pens.

It's an unusual piece for my unusual and very dear husband.
