Buzzed

i.
Kept companion by
bees as I harvest
lavender. After a
while, I begin to
hum their tune.

ii.
Monarch butterfly, on
a collision course with
my head. A quick do-si-do
lets us orbit each
other safely.

iii.
Planting onions, I
almost miss the dragonfly.
Stillness rewards me
with a soft, blue
landing. --alr, 5.26.08

Tag, you're it!

On the Art Venturers group, we have a new game called the It Girl. The It Girl picks a theme and we all send her art along those lines.

Carol Clements is this month's It Girl and chose travel. Here's a little book I made for her.

The Mermaid's Dream

Many months ago, my friend Fiona sent a group of us plain tins to alter. I painted mine, and was very uninspired by my paint job, so it sat on my worktable for a woefully long time.

Got inspired this week and here is the altered tin, "The Mermaid's Dream." It uses everything from acrylic paints to Fantasy film, and microbeads to alcohol inks. It will be going to Fiona in England shortly, as soon as finish the ATCs I need to mail her as well.

Art Venturers Deco Books

One of my groups is a small collection of women who like to try new things. We have started a deco swap where the theme is "art"--every page or spread should speak to that ginormous topic in some way.

The clip art on the second set of pages is from a new company called Paper Imagery Designs. Lori and Melissa are sweethearts and have some lovely new images. Here's a link: http://paperimagerydesigns.com/

Here are my pages for Denise and Sweetpea's books, respectively.

Deco - NGS Round Robin

Another little book in this ongoing round robin. This is Vicki Ward's book.

Some quick birthday cards

One of the reasons I love making so many background papers is they require little to turn them into finished cards and such. They seem special just because they are unique.

Three friends in my women's group are celebrating birthdays this month. I made these yesterday for them.

"Me & My World" Chunky Book

A friend in Australia is hosting this swap, which includes women from multiple countries and is supposed to give some insight into us--where we live and what's important to us. The left-hand page has the info. I overlaid this on some painted acrylic panels. The other is just art--done here in the saturated complementary colors I seem to use a lot.
